What is Weaving Dreams?
An initiative that empowers teens to women leaders as agents of change in their communities through education, policy advocacy and gender equity.
Key Partnerships
In the heart of every community, there are dreams that are waiting to be woven with threads of hope, courage and transformation. "Weaving Dreams" is an initiative that arose from the partnership between Un Mundo and rise up - Rise Up, with the purpose of empowering adolescents leaders of the sector and to make them agents of change in their communities.
Through this project, 20 young have received in-service training in:
- Advocacy: Training to participate in decision-making spaces
- Gender equality and equity: Training on rights and equity
- Community leadership: Tools to transform their communities
- Other key issues for the construction of a more just society and inclusive
Community Research
As part of the process, we carried out a research in the region to identify the needs and the violated rights of the girls. The findings revealed that the access to education it is one of the main barriers they face.
Proposal for Scholarships
This research led to the creation of an ambitious proposal filed with the Municipal Corporation of La Ceiba, requesting the implementation of scholarships for 100 girls in rural annually for four years. This initiative aims to not only provide educational opportunities, but also open avenues towards a future full of possibilities.
Participation in Political Forums
The network of women leaders has shown that the youth has the ability to lead and generate impact. Have actively participated in political forums, lifted up his voice and becoming an inspiration to many girls now see in them a reflection of what they can achieve.
Landmark Achievement: 2023
The determination and effort of this network achieved a very important milestone: the approval of the Policy for Safeguarding School City of La Ceiba on the part of the Secretariat of Education through the Directorate of Municipal Education. This policy ensures the protection of the rights of children in schools, benefiting 34,615 students in the municipality of La Ceiba (17,696 girls and 16,919 children between 6 and 18 years old). With this achievement, has taken a firm step towards the construction of safe learning spaces, equitable, and free from violence.
Future Vision: 2025
The initiative will be strengthened with the creation of a network of 40 líderesas rural. These young people will work in the empowerment of other teenagers, young people and rural women by providing tools for the defense of their rights and promoting their autonomy. Your work will be key to reducing the inequality gap and strengthen communities more just and equitable.
Impact Multiplier
The model of training of leaders creates a multiplier effect, where every young person empowered to impact their family, school and community, creating sustainable changes in the culture of gender and citizen participation.
Weaving Dreams is more than a project: it is a movement of hope, a commitment to equity and a proof of the transformative power of education and female leadership. Because when a girl is empowered, the entire community flourishes.
